XT Ultra: Fast, Reliable Protection for Teat Health Backed by Lab Testing at Cornell

Maintaining healthy teats isn’t optional. It’s essential. Every dairy operation, large or small, depends on clean, conditioned teats to protect milk quality and cow comfort.

That’s why AgroChem USA developed XT Ultra, an ultra-concentrated chlorine dioxide-based teat dip that delivers both proven pathogen control and skin conditioning without compromise.

And you don’t have to just take our word for it- Cornell University put XT Ultra through efficacy testing. Now you can take their word for it!

Tested at Cornell University

XT Ultra underwent formal efficacy testing at Cornell University using modified AOAC International’s industry-recognized laboratory protocol. The product was tested against 10 of the most problematic mastitis causing organisms affecting dairy herds, including:

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Escherichia coli
  • Mycoplasma bovis
  • Prototheca zopfii (field strain)
  • Multiple strains of Streptococcus and other mastitis-causing bacteria

Cornell tested XT Ultra at three concentrations: 800 ppm, 1,300 ppm, and 1,800 ppm, with contact times of 30 and 45 seconds.

Results That Matter

  • XT Ultra achieved a greater than 99.99% kill rate when the concentration was ≥ 1,300 ppm
  • XT Ultra was highly effective against contagious mastitis causing organisms Staph aureus, Prototheca, and Mycoplasma
  • Skin conditioner levels (2% vs. 10%) had no impact on germicidal performance.

That >99.99% kill rate is what scientists call a 4-log reduction, which is the industry gold standard for disinfectant efficacy.

What’s Inside XT Ultra?

XT Ultra is built with real-world farms in mind. Its formula includes:

  • Chlorine dioxide – a powerful oxidizing agent that provides broad-spectrum pathogen control and is effective even at lower ppm levels.
  • Lactic acid – gently exfoliates dead skin and helps reduce keratin buildup at the teat end.
  • Lanolin and glycerin – work together to moisturize and protect the skin, especially in cold or dry conditions.

The product can be used as a dip, spray, or foam and is compatible with most common parlor equipment.

How to Use It on the Farm

  • For most routine applications: Mix to achieve 1,000 ppm.
  • For added protection or when Prototheca is present: Use at 1,300 ppm.
  • Use higher emollient blends without worrying about loss of kill.

XT Ultra mixes easily using AgroChem’s Aurora blending system or 8500 HKK pump. It’s available in green, orange, or clear and has a pH of 3.0.

Bottom Line

XT Ultra gives you fast kill, flexible options, and real data to back it up. With Cornell-verified performance and a formulation designed to care for teats, it’s a reliable solution for dairy producers looking for strong, smart sanitation.
